Mary’s Daughter for the Formerly Incarcerated (MDFI) is an advocacy-based initiative which is led directly by impacted Black mothers and caregivers. It serves as a multidisciplinary intersectional platform for currently and formerly incarcerated Black womxn, trans, and non-binary people. MDFI works to advocate for impacted individuals while uplifting and sharing their experiences through artivism (activist art).
Dignity Act Now Collective (DANC) is a project of MDFI that focuses primarily on incarcerated mentorship, leadership development, and re-entry through the arts. We believe in abolishing the system of mass incarceration, gender-based violence, and the criminalization of Black womxn, girls, and LGBTQ folks in Pennsylvania.
